PREPARING TO USE
Use this saw in conjunction with pulling ropes, sling shot and throwing weight, or a long pole to reach high limbs. For easiest, quickest results and to avoid chain binding, don’t make this a ONE person job. Enlist family members, friends, or neighbors. Ideally this is a job for 3 adults: 2 for sawing, and one for relieving tree limb pressure with a tension rope.
To extend reach and cut higher limbs, recommend use of 3 ropes 25’-50’ long, at least several hundred test pounds in strength. Extend reach of saw by connecting ropes through each brass riveted end. Before tossing the saw over limb, add weight to tension rope (third rope) and toss over limb to be cut first, positioned far enough out to get leverage on the limb, but close enough to the base of the branch that it won’t snap. Third adult should stand out from under branch and pull downward on tension rope to alleviate limb binding against the saw.
Directions for use：
1)Attach throwing weight to rope. Straighten ropes and blades to ensure there are no kinks in the blade or knots in the ropes.
2) Decide what branch you want to cut and select a spot to stand - on level ground that will be clear of falling limb.
3) Toss the weight over the branch you plan to cut, swinging the weight lasso style. (Images 2A&2B)
4) Position blade as close to the base of the branch as possible before cutting. (Images 3A&3B)
5) After you pull the blade up over the limb, position yourself out from under the limb so that the control ropes and blades are at a 45 degree angle to the ground. (See image 1A)
SAWING TECHNIQUES
6) Saw limb in brisk, long, even strokes by pulling alternately on each control line. Pull the full length of the saw blade across limb on each stroke. MAKE SURE YOU STAND OFF TO ONE SIDE AS YOU CUT SO FALLING LIMB DOES NOT HIT YOU. Also, stay in one place when you cut each branch, so the blade keeps cutting along the same plane.
Changing the angle of the cut halfway through a cut may cause binding. Do not let the ropes cross as binding can result. If saw repeatedly gets stuck, try extending angle of cut by each person moving a few steps further apart. (Image 4A)
HANDY TIPS：
Undercutting can reduce pressure of limb on saw teeth. This technique requires initial cuts made by pulling from opposite sides. The chain wraps around limb cutting portion of the underside. The branches own weight will naturally open the top cut wider as you continue to cut across the top of branch. This will also prevent the bark from peeling back down the trunk. (Image 5A)
Your HIGH LIMB CHAIN SAW can also be used to remove roots which are too close to the surface. Clear away soil from the root, place the control line and blade under the root. Pull up on each control line to cut.
