- Begonia rubra is a perennial herbaceous plant that likes sunlight, tolerates slight shade, fears cold, likes warm and slightly humid environments and moist soil, but fears heat and waterlogging. Its stem is upright, slightly fleshy, and 15-30 cm high. The leaves are alternate and glossy, green or light red; ovate to broadly ovate, 5-8 cm long and 3-6 cm wide, with an acute or blunt apex and a slightly cordate and oblique base.
- The edge has small teeth and margin hairs, green. The flowers of Begonia rubra are colorful, beautifully shaped, have a long flowering period, are large and numerous, have various flower shapes and postures, and have a strong fragrance.
- Begonias are mostly propagated by sowing and cutting. Sowing method: The seeds are sown with sand and evenly sprinkled on the potting soil. Do not cover the soil. Put the sowing pot in a large pot with water using the pot immersion method. Let the bottom hole penetrate the water and permeate the soil. Keep the soil moist later, cover it with glass, place it in a semi-shaded place, remove the glass after 7 days when seedlings emerge, and transplant them when young seedlings grow 1-2 true leaves.
